
WBH BROADHEAD SHOOT RULES & PROCEDURES
ALL PARTICIPANTS, EXCEPT CADETS, MUST Be Members of WBH.
RULES COMMITTEE: The President will appoint a committee of five. Any three may act. Duties: Rules enforcement; act on protests or irregularities.
PROTESTS: Protests must be made to a member of the rules committee while the shoot is still in progress.
AWARDS: 3-6-9 Basis. WBH has increased the classes for this shoot. See previous pages for detailed list. Trophies/plaques/medals will be awarded in all classes, based on number of participants to qualify under the 3-6-9 structure. All shooters are required to sign their official scorecard indicating that they have shot the course in compliance with all the rules.
SHOOTING COURSE: Maximum of 29 targets. Distances no greater than 30 yards (including shoot off arrow). Targets - corrugated cardboard silhouettes of deer and bear. Contestants may shoot the course twice -the first score is the official score and only this first score shall count and be turned in to the registration stand.
Once you start shooting the course you either finish or take an incomplete. (Unable to finish constitutes an incomplete.) Hunting conditions prevail. NO REFUNDS.
REGISTRATION: Friday registration opens at 9:30 a.m., closes at 6:00 p.m. Saturday registration opens at
6:30 a.m., closes at 4:30 p.m. NO GROUPS SENT OUT AFTER 3:00 pm FRIDAY or SATURDAY.
Sunday registration opens at 7:30 a.m., closes at 11:30
a.m. NO GROUP FORMATION AFTER 11:30 SUNDAY.
REGISTRATION FEES: Adults $10.00, Juniors $5.00, Cadets $3.00.
Four shooters will be assigned to each group. No scorekeeper is required, however, WBH is requesting that the official scorekeeper alter-nate with another member of the group (2 official scorekeepers per group). Participants are expected to be on the honor system.
SHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS: Each group is called together and given detailed instructions.
SHOOTING PROCEDURES: Cadets may shoot two arrows and may use broadheads or field arrows. Stakes: (Separate Stakes for Cadets) All shooters must be touching the stake when releasing their arrow. Shooters may not remove brush or other natural hazard from the shooting lane. Shooters travel only on marked trails. (Exceptions: looking for lost arrows - 2 minute maximum.) No one may cross rope barriers in shooting lanes. No shooters may give or receive target information in advance to shooting. No one may pace any dis-tances. No shooter may maintain any list of target dis-tances. No cameras or other range estimating devices permitted on the range. No binoculars.
SHOOTING ORDER: Participants shoot in order as set up in advance to shooting target No. 1. Shooters wait at shooting stake. The first shooter in a group goes to the target area to act as the scorekeeper. WBH is requesting that halfway through the course, this scorekeeper exchange places with another member of the group (2 official scorekeepers per group). Cadets and Juniors must shoot last. All others remain at the shooting stake area until all have finished shooting.
EQUIPMENT: Shooting equipment must meet hunt-ing requirements and definition of a "bow" as listed on the Big Game Questionnaire: Bows - 30 pounds or over, Arrows - Blade measuring between 7/8 and 1 1/2 inches. Sighting is legal as long as sighting devices are attached to the bow and used during the process of drawing and releasing an arrow. NO CROSSBOWS.
SCORING: The cut of the line, regardless of by blade or shaft counts. Scores are determined by the official scorer and his/her decision is final. If the first arrow hits the target score areas: Heart = 15, Lungs = 10, Body cavity = 5. A second arrow shall not be shot. If the arrow misses these scoring areas a second arrow shall be shot and the 2nd arrow score shall be: Heart = 7, Lungs = 5, Body cavity = 2. Scorekeeper totals the scores and turns official 1st scorecard in at the registra-tion booth. No participant may receive their own official card except to sign it. (All cards in a group shall be turned in by one of the official scorekeepers.)
THE SCORES: Tie score winners are selected by:
1 The greatest number of 15 scores, 10 scores, etc.
2
If still
tied, first shooter to shoot a low score
is the loser.
3 If still tied, winner is determined by shooting one arrow at a target at a distance as specified by the rules committee.
Any shooter, who believes his score may be the winning or tying score, should notify someone at the registration booth immediately upon completion of the big game round. A tiebreaker target shot may be necessary.
SPECTATORS may accompany a group on the course but are subject to all rules applying to contest-ants. Participants in the shoot may not walk the course with a group, and then shoot the course for their own score at a later time.
